SIMON MACK

Simon’s father, a keen photographer specialising in transport subjects, gave him a box brownie at age seven, and later, a hefty East German “Praktica” for a student trip to Israel.  Simon continued with an eclectic mix of photography, particularly townscapes, people and transport, working mostly in colour slide with some monochrome printing.

More recently, digital technology has enabled home printing with a subtlety of control, quality and convenience undreamed of in the past.  Simon inclines toward a “straight” image treatment, to reinforce and clarify the atmosphere of the original scene and his response to it.
